WE ARE BODY POSITIVE.
To help create a more inclusive fitness industry, establish an affirmative training space, provide for diverse bodies, goals, and needs, promote confidence and self-efficacy in ALL people, and secure for every individual the health and happiness they deserve, we strive to be, above all, a body positive, weight neutral training company.
This means that we celebrate the accomplishments of all bodies across all measures of progress without exception. We consider it our responsibility, first and foremost, to help our clients feel strong, empowered, healthy, and happy in their bodies, and we vehemently disavow the concept that weight loss or a specific aesthetic is the ultimate object of training. In fact, we think clients should decide what the object of training is for themselves. We deeply respect each individual's right to decide what measures of progress they’re interested in pursuing and celebrating.
Our job as fitness professionals begins with helping our clients clarify what they want independent of what Toxic Fitness Culture (term coined by Ilya Parker of Decolonizing Fitness) would have them believe they want. Whether improved mental health, more strength, better conditioning, a sense of self efficacy, elevated confidence, dialed-in athletic performance, or even a particular aesthetic, Strength Ratio coaches are committed to validating, affirming, and honoring each client's chosen goals and whole selves at each stage of their journeys.
From there, we pledge to offer clients personalized, evidence-based support in reaching their goals. This consists of programming that’s adapted to each individual’s needs, background, goals and life circumstances paired coaching that’s collaborative, communicative, and compassionate. Our aim is to help our clients achieve their aims while positioning them for future success as THEY define it.
We recognize that discrimination based on body size is a pervasive issue that further contributes to the marginalization of Black and brown people, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, and we strive to cultivate and nurture a space in which people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, backgrounds, body types, races, and religions are welcomed, uplifted, included, empowered, and given the opportunity to feel like the badasses they are. We strive to advance an approach to training that is sustainable, to help build a health/ wellness industry that is equitable, and to establish a fitness space that is 100% body positive.
